Your membership to AVPP let's you attend TWO special events: | |
| 1) Our open house in March devoted to sharing where members are encouraged to bring their prints and albums to "strut their stuff" and share their images with other members, and | ||
| 2) Our annual December party where we simply enjoy each other's company. |
Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month (except March 2012 and August 2012) beginning at 6:30 p.m. held at the La Canada Flintridge Country Club, 5500 Godbey Drive La Canada, CA 91011, Phone: (818)790-0611.
Admission to the monthly general meetings is free for members. Dinner at the club, which is optional and includes tip, tax and service charge, is $29.50.
Admission for non-member guests is $20.00 which is applicable toward AVPP membership dues. First time guests may purchase dinner and program for the price of the dinner alone at $29.50.
The Board of Directors meet prior to the meeting at 5:30 p.m. All AVPP members are encouraged to attend Board Meetings.
• Out and About Town
In addition to our Monthly Programs, we also offer seminars, workshops and camera outings to provide continuing education and informal interaction among members. They are offered periodically throughout the year and may involve an additional fee. Your AVPP membership entitles you to substantial discounts on these programs.
• In Focus Meetings
Network with All Valley's leading photographers.
Make new friends and gain support to achieve your own professional goals.
Offered to members only, our In Focus Meetings are held in a local studio where members can gather informally to discuss photographic, digital, software concerns or other important concerns of our members.
• Print Competition
When you participate in AVPP’s Print Competition, you can't help but improve your photographic skills. Four of our monthly meetings each year are devoted to print competition. We select three experienced judges who have their PPA Masters of Photography degree to critique your images. Award possibilities include Best of Show, Second Place, and Third Place. We award our AVPP Photographer of the Year from among our quarterly winners. (You must read AVPP print comp rules prior to submitting your images.)
• Photographers' Library
AVPP maintains a DVD library of videos, tutorials, and books of photographic materials for members who wish to review programs in the privacy of their own homes or studios. For a nominal fee, these programs allow members ample time to review information and then put it to immediate use in their own business. This valuable service is available to members only.
• West Coast School Scholarship
Each year, AVPP gives away a West Coast School Scholarship which provides an AVPP member (who also belongs to the Professional Photographers of California) an opportunity to attend this valuable week of education. Applications for the scholarship are available at the beginning of each calendar year and due April 15th for review by the Board of Directors.
• Mentoring
Are you new to photography? Our membership consists of experienced and successful photographers as well as new and aspiring photographers. All our members realize the importance of helping and sharing our photographic knowledge because in teaching, we learn. Our mentoring not only helps with photography and business skills, but also meets the standard of professionalism in our industry.
• Communication
AVPP offers a friendly and informative website for both members and potential clients. Our Calendar of Events page is updated with classes, workshops, seminars as well as our Out and About Town Meetings and our In Focus Meetings. We even have an App for those iPhone users who want the convenience of knowing what's going on at AVPP at their fingertips. It's a happening place!
