Debra Valencia™ brand fashion-forward designs have endless applications in stationery, gift, craft and home décor. Valencia is working with manufacturers in paper products, social expression, textiles, home fashions, tabletop, gift, craft and hobby, children’s merchandise and jewelry. Her artwork is currently licensed with 32 manufacturers for over 1,200 products in stationery, home office, gift and textiles selling at retail stores nationally.

 

As a graphic designer and business owner, Debra has extensive expertise in branding, product and packaging design as well as all aspects of printing paper goods and manufacturing of textiles and ceramics. This knowledge combined with her understanding of consumer trends makes her a key resource in providing strategic design direction for product line development to manufacturers.

 

She has created award-winning designs for globally recognized companies, including Esprit Bed & Bath, Hasbro, Playskool, Milton Bradley, Disney, Hard Rock Cafés & Hotels International, The Cheesecake Factory and MGM Grand Hotels, to name a few, are recognizable worldwide. Debra founded greeting card company, Vida Valencia, in 2006. The company features a line of pop-up cards specifically designed to hold gift cards. The Vida Valencia catalog of over 130 items is currently licensed to Jillson & Roberts who sells them nationally.

 

Debra has 15 years experience teaching design and business courses at Otis College of Art & Design. She is currently a guest lecturer of “Art Licensing Basics” at Art Center College of Design. In addition, she developed the first college credited full semester course in the world, “The Business of Art Licensing” which she teaches at Otis College of Art in Los Angeles on a ongoing business.  She lectures on the topic of licensing for creative professional organizations including the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and Craft & Hobby Association (CHA).
